Emergency pills are given as a single tablet, to be taken as soon as possible after unprotected sex.
You can get the emergency pill free from:
any contraception clinic
any young person's clinic
any sexual health clinic,
NHS walk-in centres
most GP practices,
some genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics,
some pharmacies, and
some hospital accident and emergency departments.
You can buy the emergency pill from most pharmacies if you are aged 16 or over. Prices can vary, but it should cost around £26. A number of community pharmacists can also prescribe it free of charge to those who are under 18 years of age, including teenagers who are under 16.
